Beginning today the second Louisiana-themed episode of Restaurant Recovery airs on Discovery Plus. It’s the brainchild of Raising Cane’s CEO Todd Graves who formed his own production company and assisted ten eateries impacted by the pandemic downturn. Graves along with Saints Receiver Michael Thomas helped New Orleans’s legendary Domilise’s Po-Boys.
“He surprised the family by driving up the food truck we worked up for them and then he really me by matching my $10,000 expenses I was going to give for the food truck specifically, he did the same thing,” said Graves.
Archie Manning, a Domilise’s regular, also appears.
The series also features Baton Rouge staple Poor Boy Lloyd’s, who lost the majority of their customers when downtown businesses worked remotely. Graves said the owners went into credit card debt to pay their own employees.
“And they drained their savings and it’s a really bad place to be. And so, when I could see the things that we could do to help, and to see some of that relief and a smile come back on their face, that felt good,” said Graves.
Basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal appears in the Poor Boy Lloyd’s episode to assist with marketing.
The best advice Graves has for struggling restaurants is proper marketing and advertising. He said reminding existing and potentially new customers of your business is vital to keeping the door opens.
“It’s very, very important right now because everybody’s reopening at once and you want to make sure you’re in everybody’s routine going forward, you’re in their regular weekly thoughts of where they want to go eat,” said Graves.
Graves said the series has also been picked up by the Cooking Channel and will be served up primetime every Tuesday during the month of June.
