Today former governor, Congressmen and presidential candidate Boddy Jindal turns 50. Political analyst Bernie Pinsonat said the once superstar politician has faded from the limelight ever since his two terms as governor ended.
“Bobby Jindal burst onto the scene of politics in Louisiana like a shooting star, I mean everyone thought he was the real deal he was going to change Louisiana,” Pinsonat said.
Jindal served in the US House of Representatives between 2005 to 2008 and as governor from 2008 to 2016. During his second term as governor, Jindal focused on an unsuccessful run for the White House, which many Louisiana residents didn’t support. A UNO poll in 2015 put his approval rating at 20-percent.
Pinsonat said Jindal had a remarkable rise but more remarkable still was his exit from politics.
“As far as Louisiana politics, the legislature, issues in Louisiana he has no big comments no splash as far as his opinions are so it’s really weird, Jindal was literally the golden boy of politics,” Pinsonat said.
Jindal has stayed out of the public eye since he left the governor’s office in 2016. Pinsonat said considering his age, it’s still possible for Jindal could make a political return.
“By any standards, today elected officials are being elected into their mid-70s so Jindal has three or four or five more governor elections that he could possibly be a factor in,” Pinsonat said.
