
Former Governor Edwin Edwards was known for his quick wit and sharp tongue, roasting gubernatorial opponents during debates and on the campaign trail.
In his 1983 campaign against then-Governor David Treen, he famously quipped “David Treen is so slow it takes him an hour and a half to watch 60 minutes” and he also joked “The only way I can lose this election is if I’m caught in bed with either a dead girl or a live boy.”
