Louisianans in 47 parishes can now play online fantasy sports on DraftKings after the Louisiana Gaming Control Board approved the Nevada-based company’s request for a fantasy license.
State Police Gaming Division Audit Director Jeff Traylor testified Thursday that DraftKings expects to see about 15.5 million dollars in net revenue for the current fiscal year, which would result in about 1.25 million dollars in state revenue.
DraftKings launched the first mobile fantasy gaming app in 2013 and is available in 43 states. The product is expected to be available sometime Thursday night or Friday.
Full-on sports gaming appears likely to be right behind fantasy sports in the approval process. The activity got the go-ahead from lawmakers in the recently ended legislative session and industry members expect it will be available sometime in late fall.
