Thibodaux Regional Health System celebrates the grand opening of its 80,000 square foot facility to provide advanced cancer diagnosis and treatment. Lt Governor Billy Nungesser said the facility provides services to residents of Lafourche and seven surrounding parishes.
“This hospital through the hurricane, COVID, and everything continued to provide critical cancer treatment care and service,” said Nungesser.
In addition to staying open after Ida, Nungesser said the hospital also provided meals for residents and first responders.
“It’s incredible acts of courage, bravery, and caring by so many individuals that made that work and I’m just so proud,” said Nungesser.
Nungesser said it’s a joy to recognize such achievements in the state, especially this time of year.
“Heading into next year, coming out of COVID, opening our doors back up to the world to tourism, this is just another shining light in what makes Louisiana special,” said Nungesser.
Thibodaux Regional Health System is one of the largest employers in the state and was the only fully functioning hospital in the Bayou region after Hurricane Ida.
