
Baton Rouge Representative Ted James to accept appointment as SBA Administrator Region Six.
Baton Rouge Representative Ted James is stepping down from his seat to accept a federal post by President Joe Biden. James will serve as Regional Administrator of the Small Business Administration’s South-Central Region. James who is head of the Louisiana Legislative Black Caucus said he’ll take the helm early next year.
“Sometime in February, we have a lot of things to close out, things I want to get done before resigning. I will be making an announcement early next week,” said James.
The South-Central Region or Region VI of the SBA includes Louisiana, Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. James said he’ll remain in Louisiana and work in the New Orleans Office.
“Very excited to transition and play my part to help small businesses across our region,” said James.
James, a Baton Rouge native is Chair of the House Criminal Justice Committee and has served in the legislature since 2012.
“It was not an easy decision as I thoroughly enjoyed the last decade serving in the legislature, but I felt like it was time to pursue a new challenge,” said James.
40-year-old James is a graduate of Southern University and Southern University Law Center.
