Update: Police have identified the shooter as 20-year-old Trent Thomas of Hammond. He’s charged with three counts of attempted second-degree murder, obstruction of justice, aggravated damage to property, and firing in a school zone. Hammond Police Chief Edwin Bergeron says there was an altercation between Thomas and a group of individuals, particularly a juvenile who has been named a person of interest.
Only three individuals received gunshot injuries, a fourth person was hurt while fleeing the scene.

Authorities say one person is in custody after four people were shot following Hammond High School’s graduation ceremonies at the University Center on the Southeastern Louisiana campus. Tangipahoa Parish School Superintendent Melissa Stilley says shots rang out as families were waiting outside for their graduates to leave the arena.
Hammond Police Chief Edwin Bergeron says the four people wounded suffered non-life-threatening injuries and he said at a Thursday night press conference that no students or juveniles were involved in the shooting.
Police are not ready to say what sparked the shooting and if it had anything to do with the graduation.
Investigators are asking for the public’s help, if they have any information or video please share with the Hammond Police Department or the Southeastern Louisiana Police Department.
