LSU head football coach Brian Kelly was able to show a bit of his personality when he addressed the Baton Rouge Rotary Club Wednesday. The Massachusetts native who’s spent the majority of his 32 years as a head coach in the Midwest said it’s been an easy adjustment for him and his family in the south.
“When you have the FOOD that you have here, and the friendship and family and the love of football, how could you not fit in immediately? And we’ve loved it down here,” said Kelly.
Kelly said it doesn’t matter where you’re from to coach football, he said you just have to focus on your players. He said his purpose is to develop 18 to 21 one-year-olds on a day-to-day basis.
“My toughest days are on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. And I’m going to sit back with you on Saturday and enjoy the game,” Kelly said to the laughter of the crowd.
And while the new coach knows there are high expectations of him from such a passionate fan base Kelly said he’s going to use his tried-and-true methods of coaching the Tigers.
“And focus on the process of great habits, thinking the right way, then we’re all going to have very good Saturdays sitting in traffic jams after the games,” said Kelly.
Kelly also praised LSU’s facilities and said he’s looking forward to his first Saturday Night in Death Valley.
