This is a bit from a political ad that looks and sounds like Shreveport mayor Adrian Perkins is being called into the principal’s office for a chewing out.
“Mayor Perkins do you know why I’ve brought you down here?” ” You have a job offer?” “No”

But La. Politics’s Jeremy Alford says it’s not real.
“It looks like Adrian Perkins, it sounds like Adrian Perkins, but it’s not Adrian Perkins. What it is, is a deep fake,” Alford said.
It was created with new technology using an actor playing Perkins and new technology imposed Perkin’s face over that actor
“This is video-related technology that has emerged in the last five years or so and has become incredibly sophisticated, Alford said.
Perkins says the PAC is called People Over Politics, and it is funded by a New Orleans developer named Anthony Marullo the Third. Alford says Marullo bought real estate in Shreveport but became disgruntled with the city leadership so paid for the ads. Alford believes this is the first time that such technology has been used in a political ad in Louisiana. But with next year’s statewide races looming, he believes it’s impact will echo far outside of northwest Louisiana.
“ The big story here isn’t this video that made it to broadcast television. The big story here is, what comes next?”, Alford said.
“It does introduce a new element to the Shreveport mayor’s race and also to Louisiana political advertising in general,” Alford added.
A disclaimer briefly appears in the corner of the ad saying the image is not actually Perkins. But Alford says there’s nothing to guarantee future ads will have such disclaimers.
“Barring any disclaimer like that you now have to ask the candidate targeted by these spots, ‘Was that you or was it a deep fake?’
