Applications for the federal government’s student loan debt relief program is open. The White House estimates that more than 600,000 Louisianans are eligible for relief, including more than 400,000 who are eligible for $20,000 in loan forgiveness.
Governor Joh Bel Edwards says the application process is trouble-free.
“The application can be made now in less than five minutes from a mobile device, desktop, and so forth but you have to go to www.StudentAid.gov,” said Edwards.
Edwards says this opportunity is perfect for graduate students.
“We do know that quite often people come out of college and they have studnent debt payments,” said Edwards.
Edwards says that uncertainty shouldn’t stop anyone from applying.
“But you have to go to www.StudentAid.gov and so i encourage people debt see weather you are eligible and take advatage of the program”, said Edwards.
