Louisiana Tech University ranks as the second best public university in the state on the U.S news and World Report Best Global Universities List.
L-A Tech’s Executive Associate President for research and partnership, Dr. Sumeet Dua says the rankings focused on the university’s reputation and academic research.
“They look at how many papers our faculty has written, what is the impact of those papers, who is citing those papers, what is our reputation among our peers, and the quality of collaboration that we actively pursue,” said Dua.
The university’s Physics Program was recognized for its global research and reputation impact, one of the only two programs in the state to be honored.
Dr. Dua says their physics faculty is extremely bright.
“They take frequent international trips and work hand in hand with other partners who are on very large scale experiments. Its really extensive experiments over the years,” said Dua.
Dua says the ranking from U-S News and World Report can help attract students not only from the U-S but internationally.
“Students that come here right from their freshmen year contribute to the first paper, become part of the press conferences, they go to national press conferences to present their research product and become apart of the publication,” said Dua.
