Wide receiver Kayshon Boutte changes his mind and enters the NFL draft. The New Iberia native made the announcement hours after LSU said Boutte would not play in Monday’s Cirtus Bowl, but was enrolled for the spring semester. Hunt Palmer of the LSU Sports Radio Network and ESPN Radio in Baton Rouge has this reaction.
“I think its got to be surprising given the fact that he put out a big Instagram post two weeks ago and said he was coming back to play next year for a championship,” said Palmer.
Palmer says it’s unclear what led to the abrupt ending of Boutte’s career at LSU.
“It just seems like things got crossways and he decided he’s going to go make some money and that’s the reality of college sports,” said Palmer.
Boutte is second on the team in receptions with 48. He also had 538 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Palmer LSU still has a lot of talent at wide receiver as the Tigers’ leading receiver returns next season, plus an emerging play-maker in Brain Thomas Junior.
“I think Malik Nabers has established himself as the go-to guy on this team, the guy that Jayden Daniels has had the most rapport with he’s a really good player, Brian Thomas is an excellent player as well,” said Palmer.
Plus former five-star prospect Aaron Anderson is transferring in from Alabama and incoming freshman wideout Shelton Sampson projects to be a big-time player for the Tigers.
