Tulane’s amazing comeback to beat USC in the Cotton Bowl is not only the school’s biggest win in history, but school President Michael Fitts said it also topped off a season that marked a record improvement of ten wins in a single season.
“The biggest turnaround in football history. A team that faced Ida and being displaced but really powered through that and this year has beaten four Top 25 teams,” said Fitts.
The Green Wave’s 46-45 victory in Arlington Monday is undoubtedly the school’s greatest victory and Fitts said not only is the win fantastic for their student-athletes and head coach Willie Fritz but said it’s energized the entire Tulane community.
“The students went crazy, the alumni went crazy, both at the game, in New Orleans, and across the country,” said Fitts.
Fitts said the school already has more than 40,000 applications from prospective students to fill 1,700 places, and with the football team’s success he expects that number to increase.
“There’s no question that will energize interests in Tulane University,” said Fitts.
The Green Wave finished the season 12-2, after going 2-10 in 2021.
