
Dr. David Guzick, a physician recognized by the National Academy of Medicine, begins his new job as Chancellor for LSU Health Shreveport today. Guzick says he has a promising vision for the center.
“My vision is to create a integrated academic health center in partnership with Ochsner Health but in conserve with the faculty and the staff, and when it works well it serves as an economic engine for the region,” said Guzick.
Guzick’s most recent position was at the University of Florida, where he served as senior vice president of health affairs and president of UF health for nine years. He was able to integrate the hospital system with health science faculty, which led to tremendous growth.
“Although its different I’m hoping we can achieve many of those successes here in Shreveport,” said Guzick.
He was awarded with the “Best Physician for Women” recognition by “Good Housekeeping” and is known for his research in reproductive medicine
“So it was really a succession of positions of increasing responsibility and I look forward to achieving great things,” said Guzick.
