The Louisiana Family Forum is looking to honor the state’s longest-married couple and is currently accepting nominations. LFF President Gene Mills said it’s an annual tradition to find couples who’ve been married for several decades and honor their achievement as the Longest Married Couple in the Bayou State.
“And the Top 10 runner-ups for induction into our Marriage Hall of Fame, because we fill like their faith, their family, and their lifelong journey in marriage, needs to be told,” said Mills.
The 2022 Longest Married Couple was Patsy and Gail Richardson of Gonzales. Mills said they were husband and wife for 81 years.
“Patsy passed away last year; three months shy of their 82nd anniversary. You can imagine candidates for this type of honor are north of 100 years old on many occasions,” said Mills.
The Richardson’s raised three children and had 16 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
The deadline for entries is February 6th and the honorees will be recognized on the most appropriate day, Valentine’s.
“If you know somebody who’s been married seven decades or more, we encourage you to get their names submitted so they can be considered for our contest this year,” said Mills,
