Charges against 19-year-old Blayne Terrebonne of Larose have been upgraded after authorities say he sold 15-year-old female drugs in October that led to her death. Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office Captain Brennan Matherne said the victim thought she was taking Percocet, but toxicology proved otherwise.
“After detectives received those results indicating the drugs in her system did in fact lead to her death were in fact fentanyl, ultimately Blayne Terrebonne was then charged with second-degree murder,” said Matherne.
On October 27th, deputies first responded to a 16-year-male in Galliano that showed signs of an overdose, and the very same day Matherne said they received a call about the 15-year-old female.
“The male ended up surviving after deputies were able to revive him with Narcan. The girl unfortunately was found dead that morning and it was a suspected drug overdose,” said Matherne.
Investigators quickly determined the two incidents were related.
Matherne said detectives identified Terrebonne as the suspect and originally charged him with drug distribution.
“We withheld murder charges pending the outcome of the autopsy and a toxicology report. Those were recently received by our office,” said Matherne.
Terrebonne was taken into custody Wednesday and bail was set at $500,000.
