A comedy, filmed in Donaldsonville, premieres on Netflix today, it’s called We Have a Ghost. It’s the story of a family who moves into a fixer-upper and becomes a viral sensation when they reveal a ghost who haunts their home. Aquiles Montalvo an assistant location manager on the film said residents will recognize the Ascension Parish city in a car chase scene.
“Most of that was shot in Donaldsonville, between Mississippi and the railroad, and I think people will be in for a treat,” said Montalvo.
When searching for locations for productions, Montalvo said Louisiana offers more diverse options than Hollywood, like historic buildings and swamps…
“We have things that they don’t have, and I think it gets the creative juices flowing for filmmakers to see things that are different. It’s just different possibilities,” said Montalvo.
The film stars David Harbour, who’s best known for his role on Stranger Things, as Ernest the ghost. Montalvo said the production did have a supernatural occurrence shortly after filming began in July of 2021.
“We had everything set up, and then Hurricane Ida happened, then we had to set it up all over again. But it was more money for the community and I have no problem doing that,” said Montalvo.
Filming resumed in October 2021.
