John Alario and Trina Edwards
Trina Edwards, the 44-year-old widow of former four-term Governor Edwin Edwards, has announced a wedding date for she and her fiancé, 79-year-old former legislative leader John Alario. She says they plan to marry June 1st at the State Supreme Court Building in New Orleans and make it a small affair.
“We are going to get married just the two of us and then we are going to have a small luncheon somewhere, not sure yet, but we are going to keep under 30-to-40 people,” said Trina Edwards.
Edwards says Louisiana Supreme Court Chief Justice John L. Weimer will officiate the private ceremony.
Trina Edwards and Alario started dating early in 2022. She says she’s very lucky to have such a wonderful man in her life.
“He’s so great, we have a such a good time together, he’s so good with (Trina’s son) Eli and I really couldn’t be luckier,” said Edwards.
The couple was engaged August 19th of last year, Trina Edwards’ birthday. She says she is very much looking forward to this next chapter in her life, and to be with another man who has such a loving spirit.
“Edwin was the same way, you can’t know them and not love them, he’s fun to be around, he’s interesting, he has great stories, he’s funny, he’s kind, he’s compassionate,” said Trina Edwards.
