The body of 42-year-old Nathan Millard or Covington, GA was found in north Baton Rouge around 3 am March 6, 2023.
The body of 42-year-old Nathan Millard, the Georgia man who went missing on February 22nd while on a business trip in Baton Rouge was recovered early this morning in North Baton Rouge. United Cajun Navy President Todd Terrell, who assisted in the search could only release a few details but said it was not the outcome they wanted.
“This is a sad case, this gentleman came from Georgia to Baton Rouge, went to watch the LSU game, went to a local bar downtown, was going back to his hotel, was abducted, and the rest you’ll have to get on the news,” said Terrell.
Millard’s body was found around 3:30 am this morning near the intersection of Scenic Highway and Chippewa Street, reportedly wrapped in a rug and plastic. An autopsy will be performed by the East Baton Rouge Coroner’s Office to determine the cause of death.
The United Cajun Navy joined Baton Rouge Police and Texas Equusearch in the search for Millard. Terrell said their search team consists of many former police officers who’ve been successful in finding more than 20 people who went missing.
“Our clues and our searches and our informants on the ground was kind of leading us to a certain direction,” said Terrell.
Terrell said the body was located about three to four miles from downtown Baton Rouge where Millard was last seen leaving a bar and walking in the direction of his hotel.
“Unfortunately, it’s a high-crime area, to begin with, but Mr. Millard didn’t drive to that area, nobody in their right mind would drive to a high-crime area. There are a lot more facts that are going to come out and I’d rather wait for the police to report those facts,” said Terrell.
Despite heavy news coverage of Millard’s disappearance, Terrell credits search crews for directly talking to the homeless population who were unaware of the case which then led them to recover his body.
“So, giving them those fliers and stuff, it just gives everybody another eye and ear on the ground. In this case, it was a community effort, everybody got together and we, unfortunately, had success in an unfortunate outcome,” said Terrell.
Terrell said they’ve been in contact with Millard’s 19-year-old son and the family was notified of their discovery before the news broke.
