Louisiana Entergy customers will receive refunds in the coming months. It’s part of a 36-million dollar settlement the Public Service Commission finalized with Entergy. Commissioner Davante Lewis says the PSC sued Entergy for overcharging rate payers to cover the expenses of operating the Grand Gulf nuclear plant in Port Gibson, Mississippi.
“Louisianans and anyone actually across the south in Entergy’s portfolio were being overcharged for a power plant that was not working,” said Lewis.
Commissioner Mike Francis says the settlement is proof the PSC has the best interest of utility customers.
“People like Entergy or any utility that gets out of line they are going to face our lawyers and we are going to hold them accountable,” said Francis.
Francis says it still has to be determined how much money customers will get back.
“I don’t want to get out of line, but these millions of dollars will be spread out over the next few months, maybe a year or two, in lower, lower electricity rates,” said Francis.
