Two juveniles are dead and two others are injured from a shooting that took place around midnight (Thursday night/Friday morning) in Bastrop. Morehouse Parish Sheriff Mike Tubbs says one of the injured victims showed up at a local hospital and told authorities about the shooting on Welch Avenue and Pruett Street.
“They discovered a deceased male in that close area and extending their crime scene search area they later located a second male subject that also died,” said Tubbs.
Tubbs says they believe there was only one gunman and some sort of a dispute between the individuals involved resulted in the shooting.
“There may have been some shots fired earlier in the week and some retaliations and some people assuming who shot at them earlier in the week,” said Tubbs.
Tubbs says unfortunately you are seeing young people trying to settle disputes with violence.
“We just see way too much of it, not only here but all across the state and our nation, so we are not immune to it unfortunately as victims and suspects become younger and younger, ” said Tubbs.
On Friday afternoon, Sheriff Tubbs announced the arrest of 20-year-old Willie Williams III. He’s been charged with two counts of first degree murder, two counts of attempted first-degree murder.
