Paul Skenes could be the starting pitcher for tonight’s win or go home game against Wake Forest at the College World Series. He has 200 strikeouts, two shy of an SEC record.
Skenes has donated $10 for every strikeout to Folds of Honor, a nonprofit organization that provides scholarships to children and spouses of fallen and wounded service members and first responders. Senior Director of Chapter Relations Diane Niemecek says donations have been rolling in as fans learn about Skenes’ generosity
“Since getting to Omaha, we’ve now gotten to just over $24,000 which is over 5 life changing scholarships.”
Skenes pitched for two seasons at Air Force before he transferred to LSU. Skenes became aware of Folds of Honor after two recent members of the Air Force baseball team, Travis Wilkie and Nick Duran made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country.
“Since 2007, we have proudly awarded over 44,000 scholarships and through our non-profit organization and generous donors much like Paul, we’ve been able to stand in the gap and help fuel educational goals for these recipients.”
