An eight-year-old girl in Franklin Parish is being regaled as a hero after saving her great-grandfather’s life Tuesday night. Sheriff Kevin Cobb said the two were thrown from a four-wheeler and the 83-year-old was pinned underneath in a canal. Alli Glass knew to prop his head up to keep him from drowning and went for help.
“And was able to run a little over half a mile where she could call 911 and get this gentleman out of a bind,” said Cobb.
Thanks to Alli’s courageousness first responders arrived and her great-grandfather is on the mend. Cobb said they are all amazed such a young girl knew what to do and there’s no one prouder than her grandfather.
“I talked with him this morning and he had some tears in his eyes, about the whole situation. You can’t put a price on those types of tears,” said Cobb.
Cobb said her great-grandfather is also extremely thankful Alli didn’t get hurt after running more than half a mile to get help.
“And then have the bravery to run through fields and crops and everything barefooted. And had the wherewithal to get where she needed to go to get him help,” said Cobb.
