LSU and Florida State are meeting again Sunday night after last year’s close game in New Orleans. Florida State came up with the win 24-23 last year. A blocked extra point decided the game after LSU rallied back from a double-digit deficit in the fourth quarter, but the game ended when Damian Ramos’ extra point was blocked
LSU left tackle Will Campbell made his first start in college last year against the Seminoles. He says the entire o-line feels more prepared this time.
“Just having the year of experience under my belt. I feel like that goes for a lot of guys on the team last year that were first-time play,” Campbell said to the media. “Now know what to expect from a college game and all that type of stuff. It makes the biggest difference in the world when you know what’s coming.”
In 2022, Florida State’s defense was 14th in the country in total yards allowed, but LSU’s offensive line is more solidified than last year.
“They’re a veteran group. They’re old, they got a lot of six years, redshirt seniors, and they do what they’re supposed to. They’ve been in that system, so they know exactly what they’re doing, so I feel like that could get people problems,” Campbell said.
LSU’s front seven is not the only defensive group to watch for. LSU’s linebacker Harold Perkins makes such an impact on opposing offenses that teams have to game plan around him.
“He’s all over. He’s lined up in essentially what would be the nickel position there for three years he’s been a defensive end he’s lined up as a mucked-up inside linebacker playing a true middle stack linebacker,” Florida State head coach Mike Norvell said to the media.
