All seven major candidates for governor will participate tonight in a televised debate hosted by Nexstar Media Group. Lapolitics-dot-com publisher Jeremy Alford says the debate is only an hour long, so hopefully the candidates have enough time to talk…
“So what can be communicated and what does equal time look like under that format?”
The front-runner in the race, Jeff Landry, did not participate in the first televised debate. Landry enjoys a comfortable lead in the polls, so Alford expects a lot of attacks toward the Attorney General…
“I keep telling folks that Jeff Landry is this giant pinata full of votes. And all of these other candidates got sticks and they need votes as well. And that’s one way to get them.”
Alford says Landry will not be afraid to respond to any criticism. The debate begins at 7 PM and Alford says even though it’s taking place on a Friday night, any missteps or big blows will be known to voters…
“There’s a real genuine moment in Friday night’s debate. It will find a way to surface and meet the public whether its on a Friday night or Sunday morning.”
The debate starts at 7 PM.
