Entergy Louisiana is offering one million dollars in bill payment assistance to residential customers to help with high utility costs caused by the historic heat. Vice President of Customer Service Michelle Bourg says customers must have a total household income of up to 250% of the federal poverty level.
“Qualifying customers will receive a one-time $200 dollar bill credit do expect high demand.”
Bourg says that $100 thousand dollars of the available money will go toward helping older adults and customers with disabilities. Bourg says funds are available on a first come first served basis. She says funds are available on a first come first served basis.
“We do encourage all of our customers across the state of Louisiana to apply as soon as possible once the funds are exhausted we won’t have additional funds to distribute.”
Applications will be reviewed, approved, and denied by United Way agencies. Bourg says notice of acceptance will be sent by email.
“Notice of acceptance and processing will be sent via email. I don’t think the process should take too too long. I would say give it a week or so.”
Customers can apply through the United Way website starting Friday at noon.
