Governor-elect Jeff Landry will hold his first press conference this morning to announce his transition team. Political analyst Bernie Pinsonat said the Republican will introduce several people who are close to him and those he could look to when it comes to policy.
“But the actual running of government and where he goes, we really won’t know a lot about that until the legislative session,” said Pinsonat.
As for who will be among Landry’s key staff or his employees, Pinsonat said that will come later, but he could introduce who will be his Chief of Staff.
“This is really a show to the public, these are my co-chairs, what their goal is, what he expects for them to accomplish, and based on that he’ll take recommendations from them,” said Pinsonat.
Pinsonat said when a governor reveals who will play a part in their transition team it’s primarily for publicity.
“Who actually runs the government, Chief of Staff and all these people that’s when Louisiana starts finding out who the real Jeff Landry is and who he’s counting on and what kind of legislative agenda. That’s much more important than a transition,” said Pinsonat.
The press conference will be held in Lafayette at 10 a.m. this morning.
