Ragin Cajuns athletics announced today that 65-million dollar renovation of the west side of their football stadium will begin December 11th. Athletic department spokesperson Evan Roberts says the project will transform the gameday experience for Cajun Nation.
“We’ll have 34 suites up on the west side, we’ll have 40 loge boxes, 524 club suites, more chairback seating,” said Roberts.
It’s the most significant improvement to the facility since it opened in 1971. Roberts says fans can view renderings of what the new stadium will look like at buildtheculture.com.
“Now that we have this brand new stadium that will put us at the top of the line of stadiums in the country not just in the Group of 5, but I think it’s going to be one that everyone is really going to love,” said Roberts.
The Our Lady of Lourdes Stadium Renovation has been talked about for more than a decade. The new west side of the stadium will be ready for the 2025 stadium. Roberts that means limited seating for the 2024 season.
“Finalizing all of those details now, it will be a disrupted season for the fans, the west side will be completely closed due to all of the construction,” said Roberts.
