Tigers quarterback Jayden Daniels has made his case to win the Heisman Trophy. Ballots go out today to the over 900 voters of the prestigious award. Daniels does not play this Saturday, but to keep his Heisman buzz going, the LSU Sports Information Department unveil a website on Sunday night, thatkidjayden.com, that informs voters of all of his accomplishments.
“We are going to do a series of videos and storytelling about Jayden,” said LSU SID Director Michael Bonnette.
Daniels is trying to become the third player in LSU history to win the Heisman, joining Billy Cannon and Joe Burrow. Bonnette says everyone in Purple and Gold are doing what they can to tout Daniels’ candidacy.
“Coach (Brian) Kelly has done a really good job of promoting Jayden and stepping out and really just pounding the drum on behalf of Jayden, so people will listen,” said Bonnette.
Daniels will not play in a conference championship game this Saturday like his main competition. Oregon quarterback Bo Nix and Washington signal caller Michael Penix Jr will face each other in the Pac-12 title game.
Bonnette says voters will watch that game, but he also hopes they check out Daniels’ Heisman website for more information on the fifth-year senior from California.
He says they are also releasing a four-part series of short videos on Daniels. The first one shows him dissecting game film early in the morning at the LSU football operations building.
“You’re going to see some different views, different glimpses of Jayden and what you see on the field,” said Bonnette.
The website shows that Daniels leads the country in numerous stats, including total yards, total touchdowns, passing touchdowns, rushing yards, passer rating and the number of plays, 20 yards or more, which is 90.
