The Department of Children and Family Services is urging EBT cardholders to immediately change their PIN. DCFS fraud director Rhonda Brown says EBT cardholders should take this action, because multiple skimming devices at various retailers have been discovered around the state
“So in order to protect the client’s benefits and make sure their benefits don’t get stolen, if you change your pin that will prevent you from becoming a victim.”
A skimmer is a device installed on card readers that allows a thief to steal a customer’s information, including their PIN number.
Brown says if you need help changing your EBT card PIN, you can visit life-in-check-EBT-dot-com and there’s also a toll free number…
“1-888-997-1117 and you can change your pin through them or you can download our app which is LIFEINCHECKEBT.”
Brown urges EBT card holder to regularly review their card transactions using the Life In Check EBT mobile app or visit their website…
“Change your pin is the most important thing because if you change your pin they no longer can access your card in any way. And they hold on to these card numbers and pins for months.”
