The Ragin Cajuns will make their seventh R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl appearance when they face the Jacksonville State Gamecocks on December 16. Bowl director Billy Ferrante says this matchup is considered one of the more competitive bowl games.
“Both teams are comparable and they like to run the ball and they can stop the run. We’re looking forward to a well-played and we know a well-coached game between Michael Desormeaux and Rich Rodriguez.”
The Ragin Cajuns are six-and-six overall, while Jacksonville State is 8 and four.
This is the 23rd annual R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl and every time, U-L Lafayette is in the game, there’s more interest locally…
“They got a nice alumni base here in New Orleans. Whenever they’re in a game, it’s a lot more attention both from a media perspective and from a local perspective. All that that does is continue to help us grow our brand in market.”
The Cajuns are 5-and-1 in the New Orleans Bowl. Ferrante says the coaches, players and fans will enjoy this year’s experience.
“We’ll take them over to Mardi Gras world and let them see what the Mardi Gras process looks like. We’ll have a annual luncheon the day before the game. And then we have our VIP party Friday night at Mardi Gras world as well.”
The game will air on ESPN at 1:15 pm on December 16.
