LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels is the Associated Press College Football Player of the Year. Tiger Rag Editor Todd Horne said the AP honor is merely a foreshadowing of the most prestigious award in college football the Heisman Trophy, “That Kid Jayden” is also a finalist for.
“He easily outdistanced second-place Michael Penix, who is a Heisman Trophy finalist, he outdistanced third-place Bo Nix, and this is only the second time an LSU player has won this and that was Joe Burrow,” said Horne.
It’s a pretty safe bet that Daniels is taking home the Heisman on Saturday night. Horne said the latest odds are -1600…
“Which means you bet a hundred bucks he’s going to win and you’re not going to win anything because you have to bet a lot more than that. But he’s way out in front in terms of the oddsmaker’s perceptions of what’s going to happen on Saturday night,” said Horne.
Horne said leading up to the Heisman ceremony, there are even more accolades that Daniels could add to his trophy case on Friday night.
“Jayden is up for the Maxwell Award as well as the Walter Camp Player of the Year Award. The Maxwell Award goes to the best quarterback, which is obviously Jayden Daniels, as is indicative of all the other awards he’s winning right now,” said Horne.
The Heisman ceremony will air at 7 pm on ESPN on December 9th.
