House Speaker Mike Johnson was back in his district this past weekend. Johnson says it was the first time he’s been home since elected as speaker on October 25th. Johnson says he’s still the same guy, but the security detail that accompanies him everywhere is a major change…
“I’m used to getting up on a Saturday morning and going to Home Depot and getting my…or Lowe’s getting whatever materials I’m working around the house. I can’t do that anymore. Everything now is a three-suburban motorcade.”
Johnson admits it’s still surreal for him that he is now the Speaker of the House and his schedule has increased dramatically…
“Somebody said it’s like drinking from a firehose. No, it’s like drinking from Niagara Falls. Standing beneath it while someone is kicking you in the gut. That’s pretty much my analogy.”
During his time back home, Johnson visited one of his favorite breakfast spots, Strawn’s Eat Shop in Shreveport. He held a town hall meeting televised by the Fox News Network….
“It’s a lot of issues on the hearts and minds of the American people and the folks of this area is no different of course. They’re worried about the open border, and inflation, the fentanyl crisis, and the economy.”
Johnson says the House plans to hold a vote Wednesday to formalize an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden. Republicans allege Mr. Biden benefited financially from deals made with China and other foreign companies by his son Hunter. The White House says the President has done nothing wrong.
