In Bossier Parish, three juveniles have been arrested after an 18-year-old Houghton teen was found dead in an apartment complex parking lot Monday night. Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office Lt. Matt Gaydos said the suspects, whose ages are 15, 16, and 17, are from Bossier City.
“It is quite shocking but unfortunately in this day and age, this type of thing is happening more and more across our nation and in our state. We’re doing everything we can to try to curtail it. Pretty sad that this is involving juveniles who may be throwing their lives away,” said Gaydos.
Gaydos said robbery is believed to be the apparent motive for the shooting and that the suspects and the victim were acquaintances. The crime trail began in Bossier City with a stolen vehicle, a shooting in Houghton, and ended in Shreveport. Gaydos said it was a vehicle that led investigators to the suspects.
“It was located in a neighborhood in Shreveport fully engulfed in flames. That’s when it was determined that it was part of the crime that occurred in Haughton and the stolen vehicle complaint in Bossier City,” said Gaydos.
Gaydos said it’s always heartbreaking to see a life end way too soon. As for the suspects…
“And you never know what a judge might decide to do, if they decide to try them as adults or whatever, they could be looking at the rest of their lives in prison which is really a shame. Something’s got to be done to try to stop some of this juvenile crime because it seems like it’s just getting out of hand,” said Gaydos.
The investigation is ongoing. One of the suspects arrested early Tuesday morning has been charged with First Degree Murder. The other two were arrested later in the day.
