The line-up for JazzFest is out and in addition to The Rolling Stones headlining, the Foo Fighters, Chris Stapleton, and Queen Latifah are also on the bill. NOLA.com and Times-Picayune Entertainment Writer Keith Spera said they’ve also got some of the fresher younger bands playing.
“They’ve got Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals, they’ve got Vampire Weekend, The Killers, and Greta Van Fleet. It seems like a pretty good mix of classic and fresh at least as far as the headliners go this year,” said Spera.
Spera said festival organizers have outdone themselves again, bringing in big names, and up-and-coming artists while also paying a nod to those artists who made JazzFest what it is today. For example, a tribute to the late Jimmy Buffett…
“That they’re going to do with his band, the Coral Reefer Band, and a whole bunch of special guests. That is the classic JazzFest mindset so they’re definitely paying attention to that this year as well,” said Spera.
The dates this year are April 25th through the 28th and May 2nd through the 5th. Spera said it’s kind of a bonus JazzFest this year with eight days at the Fairgrounds versus seven.
“The Rolling Stones dominated the early discussion about this year’s festival because obviously that’s the biggest name they’ve ever had, but as the rest of this lineup indicates it’s not just about The Rolling Stones, it really is a solid festival from top to bottom,” said Spera.
