Parade times have been either moved or canceled due to the threat of heavy rain this weekend. Slidell National Weather Service Meteorologist Danielle Manning said rain chances will begin to increase in northwest Louisiana Friday evening and filter to the southeast by Saturday morning.
“That threat of heavy rain is going to last through the day on Saturday and into Saturday night, depending on where you are. But the good news is that it looks like we’ll be down to light rain across southern parts of the state by Sunday morning and should be partly cloudy and nice across the northern part of the state for Sunday,” said Manning.
Before you leave the house to catch some beads you’ll want to check to see if your intended parade time has been altered and Manning said don’t forget to take your raincoat with you.
“Going to be kind of windy so I don’t know that an umbrella is going to do a whole lot of good but have that raincoat handy if you plan to go out and waterproof shoes if you’ve got them because it’s again, going to be pretty soggy for Saturday and Saturday night,” said Manning.
Manning said there is a slight risk of excessive rainfall so some areas may experience some localized flooding mainly across southern Louisiana on Saturday. And there’s a marginal risk of severe thunderstorms across the immediate coast.
“Keep an eye on the forecast and know before you go, is what we like to say. Check that weather before you head out so that you know what to expect,” said Manning.
