It’s official, professional hockey is back in Monroe, Louisiana. The managing partner and president, Parker Moskal announced the newest team in the Federal Prospects Hockey League.
“Passion for sport runs deep in the city of Monroe. Today marks a significant moment in the history of the city as we announce the newest addition to the Federal Prospects Hockey League, the Monroe Moccasin’s.”
Moccasin’s Owner Nick Perkins says he knows Louisiana is passionate about their sports teams…
“…and more than that they love a winner. And that’s what I’m here to commit to you today. We’re not just here to stand up a hockey team in Monroe. We’re to build a championship level team and win the entire thing in the first year.”
It’s been over two decades since Monroe has had a professional hockey team and some say history will repeat itself and the new Monroe Moccasin’s wont last, but Perkins has a message for the doubters saying, “That will not happen.” And are in talks with the Governors office to bring an NHL team to New Orleans.
“If Las Vegas can stand up a championship hocky team in the middle of the desert, New Orleans can stand up an NHL team in the middle of the bayou. Please feel free to tell me that it wont happen. I can use the motivation.”
The Moccasins return to the Monroe Civic Center October 11th
