Baton Rouge Congressman Garret Graves makes it clear he will not seek another political office this year, and that includes Baton Rouge Mayor, PSC Commissioner, or dog catcher. Graves says he’s not ready to jump into another political office after announcing earlier this month he will not seek re-election
“Bottom line is that when we made a decision to take a step back, we made a decision to take a step back.”
Graves says he looks forward to being a normal citizen, reintroducing himself to friends and family and.
“Gosh, the number of projects I have on my honeydew list right now that are literally years old just trying to get some things like that done and working on advancing our community from an entirely different prospective.”
The 52-year-old Graves says one of his main priorities is finishing out his fifth term in the U-S House.
“Just an absolute honor to represent such a great area. Such a unique part of the United States and be able to deliver some huge huge wins.”
The Republican from Baton Rouge’s term ends in January. There was speculation he may run for East Baton Rouge mayor or a seat that’s opening on the Public Service Commission.
“God has a plan, and I intend to listen,” Graves said.
