After a disappointing first debate many Democrats have called for President Joe Biden to step aside for the November presidential election. Louisiana’s only Democratic Congressman Troy Carter says even though the President had a bad night but that doesn’t mean he’s not fit for office.
“I think its unfair and its overreach and I think its hype that people are suggesting the President shouldn’t run because he had a horrible debate performance.”
The President sent a letter to Congressional Democrats telling them he’s firmly committed to staying in the race and beating Donald Trump.
Carter contrasted Bidens performance to former President Donald Trump…
“[Trump] has certainly has his share of bad days where he has incoherent press conferences or incoherent statements that didn’t make a bunch of sense but no ones asked him to get out of the race.”
Carter says the President can’t avoid that he had a bad debate but when looking at Bidens successes…
“…of the $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill, of the CHIPS and Science Act, of reducing insulin for senior citizens. You know these are all actions done, not promises made but promises kept.”
The second presidential debate is schedule for September 10th.
