“A lot of fabricators go to subcontractors, but Southland decided to start investing in their own fireproofing facility and they have been fireproofing for the last 10 years” said Chief Strategy Officer Randy Ross.
The project is expected to break ground in the coming weeks adding to the continued expansion of Southland to the Louisiana economy.
“We have one in Amite, we have one in Greensburg, Louisiana and the one in Washington will be our third facility.”
Ross says the project will bring 120 new direct jobs to the Acadian Region, with more than $53,000 in salaries and 178 indirect new jobs.
“Our company continues to grow so we look for great things to happen not only in our fabrication but our other facilities as well.”
LED offered a $2.5 million performance-based, forgivable loan to win the project and Southland is expected to participate in the state’s Industrial Tax Exemption and Quality Jobs program.
Southland expects construction to be completed by spring 2025.
