The Boston Consulting Group is reviewing State Transportation to find ways to make it more efficient. This is after Governor Landry ordered DOTD to optimize operations. DOTD Secretary Joe Donahue said once the review is complete, he’ll prepare a plan for the governor by January 15th.
“The exercise that they are undertaking is basically to gather that information and benchmark different statistics and compare Louisiana’s Department of Transportation to other states,” said Donahue.
The legislature contracted BCG to conduct the review.
Also, under the executive order issued by the governor, Donahue will create an initiative called “Rebuild Louisiana,” meant to find additional revenue for the department. Donahue said then he’ll meet with the Commissioner of Administration and Revenue Secretary.
“And identify ways to properly fund the department and identify new revenue sources that could be used in order to adequately fulfill our responsibility,” said Donahue.
Donahue said the plan he submits will detail ways to rehabilitate the department, how to address current issues and future infrastructure reform.
“And that’s kind of the phase that Boston Consulting Group is bringing to a close right now, in order to begin formulating those recommendations for how to make the agency better,” said Donahue.
The review is a collaboration between private industry, both chambers of the legislature, and the governor’s office.
