Is your child struggling with math or reading? The state department of education is offering digital vouchers worth 15-hundred dollars. The digital vouchers can be used to pay for high-quality literacy and math tutoring through the Steve Carter Tutoring program.
“We at the Department of Education have found tutors,” said Deputy Superintendent of Education Doctor Jenna Chiasson. “These have all been approved by the Department of Education to provide Hight quality reading and math tutoring to students.”
She says there are currently 88 tutoring providers available.
The program provides qualifying families of public school students with digital vouchers that can be used for personalized tutoring services, either in person or online. Chiasson says the goal is to ensure students receive tailored assistance in areas where they may be struggling, helping to close educational gaps.
“The best way to address those gaps is by individualized academic support in small groups and individual tutoring is a great way to address those really specific needs that students have.”
Chiasson emphasizes the program will give students a better chance to succeed academically. By providing targeted interventions, the Steve Carter Tutoring Program aims to strengthen student performance and help them stay on track with their grade-level expectations,
“Families can register very easily by going to to tutor.la.gov and once they’re on the site they’re able to put in their zip code and find eligible tutors in their area.”
The program previously offered a one-thousand-dollar digital voucher, was limited to k-5 public school students, and only included literacy.
