U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy has congratulated President-elect Donald Trump. It’s the first time in over 100 years a president has won after being out of office for four years, taking the Electoral College and the popular vote. Cassidy says the future looks bright for the country and Louisiana.
“He’s gonna be pro-energy that’s going to be good for Louisiana. I think he’s going to have a better policy on the border. So I think there are going to be a lot of positive things the American people voted f or and will see becoming reality.”
Cassidy voted in February 2021 to convict Trump of inciting a riot on the U.S. Capitol building in January of that year.
The Louisiana Republican Party censured Cassidy for that vote.
Earlier this year Trump called Cassidy one of the worst U.S. Senators and said he was total flake.
Cassidy says despite what many think, he and Trump have been closely aligned on many issues including healthcare and energy.
“What folks don’t realize is that I voted with Donald Trump his first four years more than my fellow Senator John Kennedy, just slightly, but to just point that out,” Cassidy said.
Cassidy says he’s looking forward to the Trump Administration unlocking domestic energy production, creating jobs and providing economic security.
“If we are having to buy rare minerals from China to build batteries, because we don’t want to use our natural gas, we take our energy security and we transfer it to China, which means it becomes energy insecure,” Cassidy said.
Cassidy will be up for re-election in 2026.
This coming from one that voted to have Trump impeached and voted to convict regarding J6? Not counting how he voted in lock step with the left on policies detrimental to our country? Why didn’t you stand up for Trump during his administration and during the 20-24 administration? I will not vote for Cassidy in 26 as I did in his last 2 elections.
