The Saints fell to 4-and-8 after a 21-14 loss to the Rams at home yesterday. New Orleans had a chance to win or tie the game on a fourth down inside the Rams’ 10-yard line with under two minutes to go but came up short. Coach Darren Rizzi said they know they need to be better in tight games.
“I think overall we’re one and four in one score games, and if you’re gonna make the postseason in this league, and be successful, and win your division, all those things. The bottom line is you got to win one score games. That’s that’s just the bottom line, and so I think the mood in the locker room is guys are still confident in what we’re doing but again they’re disappointed that we lost, and well they should be”
The Saints led 6-0 at halftime but Rizzi said big plays and a season-high 104 yards for Rams running back Kyren Williams were the difference in the second half.
“They had an explosive play which is always a great equalizer. We’d kind of done a great job of not giving those up in the first half. They get a couple of explosive plays, and then we had a tough time stopping the run in the second half, which again just not constant enough.”
Do-it-all tight end Taysom hill was carted off the field with under five minutes left following a fourth down conversion. He is believed to have suffered ligament damage and will have an MRI today to find the extent of the injury.
