If you still need to mail your Christmas gifts to arrive before Christmas Day, you’d better get a move on it. Evelina Ramirez with the Postal Service says the first deadline is today.
“December 18th is our deadline for USPS Ground Advantage. Now, if you can’t make that date, then we have Priority Mail. which is December 19th,” Ramirez said.
And if you miss that deadline, your last resort is Priority Mail Express, with a deadline of December 21st – this Saturday. Ramirez says the Postal Service will go to great lengths to deliver packages in time for Christmas, including after dark.
“For those last-minute procrastinators, we do have December 21st as our last date to mail Priority Mail Express,” Ramirez said.
Ramirez says volume is expected to pick up, and the Postal Service is ready.
“We’re going to deliver morning, noon, night, and even in the evening time. So please, leave the porch light on, because we will be delivering. Make sure that your pathways are clear and well-lit, so that if your carrier happens to get there early in the morning or late at night, then they’ll be safe,” Ramirez advised.
Ramirez added, “We prepare for this all year-round and yes, it’s a lot more work and yes, it’s long hours. But we do this year after year, and it’s our season to shine.”
