Secretary of State-elect Nancy Landry
Louisiana Secretary of State Nancy Landry will oversee the state’s Electoral College meeting today in the Senate Chamber of the State Capitol. Joel Watson with the Secretary of States office says Landry will administer oaths of office to the eight Republican electors before they cast their official votes for president and vice president.
“Those electors were elected by the party earlier in the year, and when Louisiana decided to select Donald Trump as president those electors were selected to give their votes at the meeting of the electoral college.”
Watson says these meetings taking place across the country will make Trumps presidency official.
“When the electors meet across the country this will be the official declaration that Donald Trump is president and J.D. Vance is vice president.”
Louisiana’s elector are Christian Gil and Randolph August Bazet III (at large), Raymond M. Griffin, Jr. (1st Congressional District), Lloyd A. Harsch (2nd District), Luke Anthony Dupre (3rd District), Matthew Kay (4th District), Phillipp Jeffrey Bedwell (5th District), and Carl W. Benedict (6th District). If an elector is absent, an alternate will assume their duties.
