Louisiana float in 2024 Tournament of Roses Parade.
For the fourth year in a row, Louisiana will be featured in the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California on New Year’s Day. Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser says the state’s float is called Louisiana Saturday Night and it will feature a giant playful alligator wearing Mardi Gras beads. Riding on its back is a Cajun Dance hall and cypress trees.
“Talk about all the great things that happen around the state. The fairs and festivals, Saturday night in Tiger Stadium. All the great things that go on across Louisiana.”
Performing his rendition of “Louisiana Saturday Night” will be LSU student rising country music star Timothy Wayne, who is the nephew of Tim McGraw.
Nungesser says over 100 Louisianians made the journey to Pasadena to help decorate the float.
“We put over 130-thousand roses, orchids, wheat, seed, all kinds of stuff on that float in three days with all volunteers.”
Nungesser says having a float in this parade results in up to 40-million dollars in media coverage
“At the beginning of the year when people are thinking about, “Where are we going on vacation this year?” What better time to put our face all across the world of all the great things going on in Louisiana.”
The Parade of Roses is on January 1st, at 10 a.m. on ABC and NBC.
