Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser
Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser criticized New Orleans leadership following a deadly New Year’s Day attack on Bourbon Street, labeling the response as lacking. Nungesser expressed frustration with the absence of bollards at key entrances.
“My frustration is built up, and to know that these bollards were taken out for repairs for the Superbowl, how could the Sugar Boal crowd not be as important as Superbowl?”
Nungesser was filled with sadness and anger when he heard the news.
“I grew angry, and I grew angry because of my eight years of working with the leadership in New Orleans frustrated on cleaning up the Quarter and making it safer.”
Nungesser reaffirmed Louisiana’s resilience, encouraging unity and vigilance. He also announced plans to enhance security measures in New Orleans’ most popular areas.
“Long term they will see the efforts that the Governor will implement and oversee that will continue to get the confidence of not only the residents of Louisiana, but visitors around the world that New Orleans is doing absolutely everything physically possible to make it the safest city it can be.”
