You can help support those affected by the Bourbon Street tragedy by buying special Saints and Pelicans “love for New Orleans” warmup shirts. The shirts have the word “NOLA” above the Saints or the Pelicans logo, with the “O’ replaced by a heart. Brittany Whitsell, the director of charitable giving and development for the Saints and the Pelicans, says players and coaches have been wearing those shirts and now, you can too.
“The demand to buy those and to be able to help was just, overflowing, and so we knew we had to go ahead and get those out to the public,” Whitsell said.
“Those have ‘NOLA’ written on them, with our Saints and Pelicans logos as well as a heart in the ‘O’ to represent all of us coming together and really helping everybody,” Whitsell said.
The shirts are $34.99 and are available at the Saints and Pelicans official online stores. Proceeds will go to the United Way United for New Orleans Fund through the Pelicans, and the Greater New Orleans Foundation Tragedy Fund through the Saints to support the victims of the terror attack on Bourbon Street.
“All the proceeds are going to be going back to the United Way United for New Orleans Fund for the Pelicans, and The Greater New Orleans Foundation Tragedy Fund through the Saints,” Whitsell explained.
Whitsell says the Saints and the Pelicans both worked with the NFL and the NBA, respectively, to crank out as many shirts as possible.
“We’re just really excited that we have these great organizations to partner up with, be able to get those funds to, and get them activated now to those victims as soon as possible,” Whitsell said.
Whitsell says the shirts are in abundant supply at the official online stores for both the Saints and the Pelicans. She urges you only to buy those shirts from those official sites. Money from purchases elsewhere will not go to those who the shirts are intended to benefit.
