Three people stabbed to death in Amite, including two children

The St. Helena Parish Sheriff’s Office says three people were stabbed to death, two of the victims are children, in a domestic disturbance incident that took place in Amite on Thursday afternoon on Sawmill Road.

Sheriff Clay Chutz says 31-year-old Ryant Jones of Amite has been arrested and charged with three counts of first-degree murder.

Chutz calls it a horrible tragedy.

The victims’ ages are 40, ten, and one years old. The 40-year-old is the mother of the ten-year-old. The one-year-old is a nephew to the adult victim.
